For a while now I have had a second Game Gear that had no screen. It did have a GGTV installed so I was able to display the games on TV but I decided to install a new LCD screen. This worked well however I then noticed that the d-pad would rotate and get stuck. On closer inspection I could see why, the d-pad has a ‘lip’ around the edge that had broken off.

Fortunately the user pindleskin on Thingiverse has uploaded a printable model of the Game Gear d-pad. I initially printed it on my Creality Ender-3 V3 SE and while it did fit, it wasn’t a very good print. I couldn’t find any replacement d-pads online that didn’t cost a fortune to buy or ship so instead I decided to get pindleskin’s model printed at JLC3DP. I chose to have it printed with their ‘JLC Black Resin’ and the resulting printed turned out great. It isn’t 100% match with the original, but the Game Gear is now usable.
